THE WEEKLY WALK – 2/6/13

hey everybody, hope you are well & the new year is starting off good.   it’s been a challenging new year so far for me to say the least.

first off thanks to everyone who came out to all of the shows in january.  we saw so many new faces and played for so many new crowds, it was absolutely fantastic.  great nights of worship.  thanks to all of your generosity we had 22 kids get sponsored in the last month via @worldvision.  really awesome stuff.  thank you.

i was reading tonight from the gospel of Luke and one thing stood out to me, this verse:  Luke 12:34 – “34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Made me think, where is my treasure?  What is the one thing or things that i constantly crave? Where do i go at the end of the day?  Well the proper answer to that question is….God.  Right? Isn’t that the christian answer to this question?  That’s what Jesus was going for…i think?  Let’s be honest.  I can’t say that that is the answer that i have to that question.  For me it should be God but…it’s my family, my music, my work, my relationship with my wife so many other things.  So many things that i put before God.  So many things that get in the way of God.  Where is my treasure?  What is my treasure?  Oh, that verse cut like a knife tonight.

To answer this question we need to have time to think about the question.  That’s the catch.  There’s no time to think about the question.  I was listening to an interview on a podcast recently. It was an interview with an artist that i really respect.  The question came up about after all of the grammy’s won, all of the stuff that this guy has accomplished, what is the biggest challenge he still has to face?

His answer was simple.  The biggest challenge he has to face is finding the ability to rest.  He said that the Lord wants us to rest and just breathe.  We move all the time, our brains never stop.  God just wants to be with us and we move too quickly.  God wants to speak to us and we never have time to listen.  It’s so hard to find that place of rest but there’s a way to rest and still be very successful and get things done.

I almost drove off the road.  Time.  Time is the one thing that gets stolen from us every single day.  Every single moment.  Time is the one thing that never stops and the one thing that we so easily let get away from us. The one thing we so easily give away.

So i asked the question before, or actually Jesus asked the question in Luke.  Where is your treasure, because where your treasure is there your heart will be also.  Finding that treasure starts with finding the time to actually find that treasure.  Take the time to seek the kingdom of God.  Take the time to seek His face.  Seek His will in your life and when we do that, He will reveal to us the treasure in our hearts.

Just a quick note of thanks….see you in 2013

hey everyone, i just wanted to take just a moment to say thanks to everyone that’s been involved in this ministry this year. we’ve played so many new venues, met so many new people & hopefully touched so many new lives.  it’s been amazing to get the emails from all of you and talk to so many of you at our gigs.

i just want to encourage you to continue the dialogue.  keep those cards & letters coming as they say.  the whole reason we do this is to bring the message of Jesus and the hope that He has for this world to as many people as we can.

if you have a church or venue that you’d like us to play, please let us know.  reach out via the contact page & we’ll try to put together a show at your location.

keep sharing the music, send people to the indieheaven page to listen & download the music, share the message via the music.  help us to continue to push this throughout the region.

we love you guys, we love the support that you show for the music & the live shows & we love sharing this music with others.

thank you for a great year, here’s to an even better 2013.  prayers that God will reveal himself to all of us in an amazing way as we move into the new year.

see you at a show soon, stop by the live page to see when we’ll be near you.

    thanks again.

      TAKE TWO MINUTES:

Take two minutes, go over your pictures on your phone, are they pictures with friends and family or are the grand majority just you holding your phone?

Take two minutes, Look At your emails are the majority of your emails about your family, wife, life partner, friends or work?

Take two minutes, look at your phone log, who were your last 5 phone calls?

Take two minutes, what did you do today? Did you help anyone in need?

Take two minutes, how much money do you have in your wallet? When was the last time you gave money to charity?

Take two minutes, do you talk to others or talk to others about you?

Take to minutes, did you tell your mother you love her, did you tell your father you love him?

Take two minutes, think what would your co workers say about you?

Take two minutes, have you taught anything useful to anyone this week?

Take two minutes, when was the last time you wrote a letter?

Two minutes that’s all the time it should take you to read this but it should really make you think for days what can I do in two minutes, in two minutes you can revalue your life and make it better.

Take two minutes and say a prayer.  Say a prayer for your country, for your state, for your town, for your neighborhood.  Say a prayer that reaches deeper than just help me do this, help me do that, give me this, give me that.  Take two minutes and say a prayer for someone that you really don’t pray for, that you really don’t know.  Now take two minutes and say a prayer for a child that needs help because they are starving, needing clean water, needing food, a child that you’ll probably never meet but a child that you can pray for.

Finally take two minutes and thank God for the life that you have.
